'''''84, Charing Cross Road''''' is a book by Helene Hanff, published in 1970, about the long correspondence (1949 - 1969) between Hanff, a resident of New York City, and Frank Doel of the Marks & Co. bookshop at 84, Charing Cross Road, London, England. A stage play, a BBC Radio play and movies have been made based on the book.
In 1975, a TV movie starred Frank Finlay and Anne Jackson. A 1987 version starred Anne Bancroft and Anthony Hopkins.
While Marks & Co. is out of business, a plaque on the building acknowledges the story.
