Allure of older women

Ahhh. The Cougar. The Milf.

No matter what name you use to describe attractive older women the fact remains that if you are a healthy young man - these women are in your dreams. Although I will not comment if I personally know that women, like wine, get better with age - I will say that you, Ashton Kutcher, are a lucky man!

Why do men find older women attractive? Well according to Dr Brian Yeo, a consultant psychiatrist at Mount Elizabeth Hospital, ‘Older women have panache,’ he says. ‘They are attractive, drive a good car, enjoy good music and food, mix in sophisticated circles, are not so clingy and know what they want.’

Sure. But this articles author reminds us not to forget about sex. “Mature women hit their sexual peak after 30, and I reckon they will hit it off in the sack pretty well with boys who have the Playboy channel for brains”.

Web service matches college roommates based on compatibility

Emory University has joined many others in the roommate matchmaking* arena. The new service that this article describes as “an effort to promote domestic tranquility among the 4,000 students who will live in campus housing this year” will be powered by WebRoomz.

* Oops. Did I say roommate matchmaking? Sorry Jessica from WebRoomz, I know you don’t like that moniker, but hey, matchmaking can mean alot of things - not just dating!

Anyway… this type of matchmaking isn’t without its problems. ABC News, who also covered this story, spoke with Cristen Scully Kromm from New York’s Barnard College who says: “After college, or in the workplace, or before college, people tend to cling to people who are like them”. “If you’re not spending some time in college or in a setting where you are forced to interact with people aren’t like you, when are you going to have the chance to do it?”

Click for a chick or chap: More choose cyberdating

Talks about the success of online dating and says that the online industry “squashed print personal ads in Houston”. Why? Well according to Norval Glenn, a sociology professor at the University of Texas, “The stigma once attached to Internet dating is disappearing”.

But not all people are in love with online dating. Just ask Linda Hinkle, who tried both match.com and eHarmony before meeting a man who claimed to be a doctorate in quantum physics, employed at NASA. The guy turned out to be living with his mother and working at a chemical plant.

Now that doesn’t do much for the online dating stigma!

Bonded By Love: Tale Of Two Hearts

A tale of a man from Barbados and a woman from Russia named Albina who met and fell in love through an Internet dating service. But as this article reports, they may be among the lucky few.

Although there are many Russian women who are seeking a better life, meeting a match in mother Russia is not easy. Internet access is not common, few women speak a foreign language, and many of the dating sites are fly-by-night operations that will take your money and run.

The Globe and Mail loves Friendster. They have published yet another article on the dating / community website reporting that it has attracted “a healthy buzz and 1.3-million users ? despite no advertising and being officially only in beta, or test mode.” It goes on to say that within a few months Friendster will implement a subscription fee of $8 (U.S.) a month if users want to be able to contact new people. Posting a profile and viewing others will remain free.

Greenbelt singles try speed-dating in a tent

Wow. Speed-dating is everywhere. Now the UK’s largest Christian internet dating agency, Christian Connection, is organizing more speed-dating events. The Church Times reports that 150 people have registered so far with an equal male-to-female ratio.

But they’re not virgins at all this and not everyone thinks it’s innocent! Founder of Christian Connection Jackie Elton has organized these events before and says, “When we announced the first one, we had some criticism: people saying that this was not what Christians should be doing.”

Single in the City? - Look Online

Talks more about the dating scene in Germany which has “no shortage of single people to go around” but suggests it isn’t easy to find a partner. That is where Internet dating sites come to the rescue! “Online dating has become the choice of many single people in Germany who don’t particularly want to stay single, but also have little desire or time to hang out in bars”, reports the Deutsche Welle. How popular? Well according to recent surveys out of Deutschland, 62% of all unmarried Germans had set up a date through e-mail or a chat room.
