Suzanne Shaw Left Holding the Baby
It used to be that irresolute lovers left their soon-to-be-spouses at the altar. In today’s fast-paced world, Darren Day has begun what looks to be a new trend: dumping one’s fiancee before getting within miles of the church.
Suzanne Shaw, former Hear’Say singer and now former fiancee, thought she had the right ticket by bearing Day’s child in advance of the wedding. Sadly, this plan backfired when Day dumped her on England’s Mothering Day holiday.
Day seemed like such a good candidate for matrimony, too, having gone through a slew of women in the manner one would paw through a rack of clothes to find just the right shirt. Surely he was shopping for just the “right woman,” finely tailored of broadcloth. In Shaw he surely must have thought he’d found the perfect ratio of quality to value, since he didn’t hesitate to pay with an engagement ring. True, he tried to return her when she was eight months pregnant, but she was a little too shopworn for a refund. So, Day chose to drop Shaw off at the dry cleaners, as it were, and never reclaim her.
Better luck next time to Shaw, who’s now back on the rack, cleaned and pressed and ready for pickup.
