Are You a Man or a Fish?
Confused dating coach Ronnie Ann Ryan thinks online dating involves cold-blooded aquatic vertebrates. Or is best left to Pisceses. Or something. I can sort of understand this. To me, a good date is much like fishing in that it involves hours of attentiveness to a rowboat while watching a bobber go up and down. I don’t think that’s what Ryan has in mind, though.
Ryan, a “dating coach” and the author of MANifesting Mr. Right, says online dating is like finding the best fishing hole — the one where the most fish congregate. If you drag a net where the fish are, you’re bound to catch a whole bunch of ‘em. Sure, you’ll want to throw most of them back. But if you’re lucky, you’ll find a keeper.
This reminds me of the time my former boyfriend, Rand, took me sailfishing off the coast of Mexico. Or was it Bolivia? Either way, we had an adorable time, drinking and fishing, fishing and drinking. At some point, we were giving the fish martinis, and then we ran aground, and I don’t remember too much other than flirting with the saucy marineros who rescued us.
But I digress.
The gist of Ryan’s advice is: online dating can work, if you know the secrets. Yeah. Good luck with that.
