Keeping Romance Alive is Up to You

Valentine’s Day has passed. Your squeeze brought you the requisite box of chocolates and dozen roses. Maybe he even took you out for dinner. Now, he’s back to sitting on the sofa, playing with his…

Xbox, his obligation to romance complete for the coming year.

If there’s to be any further romance in your relationship this year, it’s up to you. And, I mean, that’s fair. After all, each of us is responsible for meeting her own needs, right? We don’t have to rely on men for that.

So, somewhere in between getting the kids ready for school, dropping his stuff off at the cleaners, shopping for a gift for his mother’s birthday, planning a dinner party for his boss and eight other company bigwigs, changing his Hair Club for Men appointment, carpooling the kids to afterschool activities, cooking dinner, housecleaning, and working a job all day, surely you can manage to dream up some romantic activities.

But just in case you’re looking for new ideas to liven up your lovelife, Modern Mom offers some helpful tips. Here are some examples, with my comments in parentheses:

2. Leave notes for each other with loving or sexy messages. Choose frequently seen places, like the fridge or bathroom mirror (or on the PlayStation or in his secretary’s cleavage), or unexpected places, like the briefcase, wallet, or sock drawer (or in an email mis-sent to his boss).

5. Have some sweet or funny pet names for each other, and use them (often. And loudly. Especially at one of his office parties when you’ve just had a big fight in the car on the way over. His coworkers will love knowing you call him “Big Puddy-Wuddy”).

7. Dust off all the silky little nothings you have accumulated but probably never wear, and wear them. (Or, just get that sexy new red corset/garter combo back from Raoul.)

Have fun!
