Web service matches college roommates based on compatibility
Emory University has joined many others in the roommate matchmaking* arena. The new service that this article describes as “an effort to promote domestic tranquility among the 4,000 students who will live in campus housing this year” will be powered by WebRoomz.
* Oops. Did I say roommate matchmaking? Sorry Jessica from WebRoomz, I know you don’t like that moniker, but hey, matchmaking can mean alot of things - not just dating!
Anyway… this type of matchmaking isn’t without its problems. ABC News, who also covered this story, spoke with Cristen Scully Kromm from New York’s Barnard College who says: “After college, or in the workplace, or before college, people tend to cling to people who are like them”. “If you’re not spending some time in college or in a setting where you are forced to interact with people aren’t like you, when are you going to have the chance to do it?”
