Online Dating Services Add Features
Internet dating goliath Match.com has revamped its website and announced some new features including video messages, compatibility tests, and a feature that according to the NY Times “enables users to send flirty e-mail messages to prospective dates.”
They have also declared a shift in focus from “find a lifetime mate” to find a “casual date”. According to match.com president Tim Sullivan, “Online dating is sufficiently legitimate now that it’s O.K. to embrace a broader spectrum of dating and relationship experiences.”
But not all sites are taking this approach, Matchmaker.com believes people are looking for commitment. Matchmaker vice president Meredith Hanrahan says “80 percent of the people who use these services are looking for serious relationships.”
