My Reality TV Confessional

Cast of Paradise Hotel
When it comes to reality shows I like to pretend I have discerning tastes. For example I watch Amazing Race to see the wonderful destinations they travel to, I like Survivor just for the competitive games and not the silly squabbles that occur.

It’s time for me to come clean. I watch them all. anything I can get my hands on. Paradise Hotel was the guiltiest of all my pleasures. To me it was watching a train wreck. So horrible and revolting to see people in such an awful situation, but I just couldn’t turn away.

I also find there is a correlation between what time they air. The later they are televised the more likely I am to watch complete trash.

Last night I tuned and watched a show called Perfect Match that airs on the Life Channel at midnight (MST). They explain the premise on their website:
“In each episode of this 13-part series, a New York City singleton entrusts a friend and relative to find the ideal date. Joined by relationship expert and author Harriette Cole, the friend and relative search for three suitors, out of 30 potential partners, to live with the contestant for one week each. At the end of each episode, the singleton goes on a dream holiday with the perfect match or takes one of the remaining 30 suitors on a holiday.”

In last nights episode Andrew was the bachelor who shared his apartment with 3 ladies each for a week. He made out with each of them and claimed to have ‘feelings’ for all 3. He eventually chose the one who made him laugh and I think the only one he hadn’t slept with. What usually impresses me with these shows is even thought I know they are manipulating me with their not so subtle editing I always feel terribly for the rejected losers who claim to have fallen in love over 7 days and will probably spend the next 8 months mending a wounded heart.

Would love to hear what your favorite show is…send me an email.
