Top 10 things for the first phone call
To tell you the truth I had no idea what might go into the initial phone call. After reading Jon Platner’s Top 10 list of Tips For The First Phone Call I suddenly realize why that guy Francis never called me.
Here’s the list:
- Call her in the evening
- Call from a comfortable setting
- Get your voice in gear
- Engage in good small talk
- Make references to when you met
- Make her laugh
- Don’t be crude
- Propose a specific date
- Propose a specific date
- Don’t fall into becoming friends
My favorite part of the article was the suggestion to “It can also help to look in the mirror every now and then during the conversation. You can accentuate your expressions (like a smile) to make sure that they carry through on the phone.” The guy will not have to worry about #5 Making me Laugh because I will be picturing him standing in front of a mirror making the appropriate facial expressions.
