Business networking with speed dating premise
If you have heard much about the speed dating phenomenon the function put on by Todd Meador called Metropolitan Nites will sound familiar.
?I started thinking, I would go to all these networking events,? Meador said. ?It?s not that easy to meet people at those things. You end up hanging out with people you know already.?
By contrast, the speed networking system is structured so that attendees are steered into conversations with 20 to 25 new contacts.
The event is co-sponsored by the Nashville Area Junior Chamber of Commerce.
?What kind of drew us to the speed networking event was that it was creative, it was unique, [and] it encompassed part of our mission to develop our members because it could help them meet people personally and professionally,? said Jeana Sorrells, board members in charge of networking events.
In 11 months Todd has acquired over 500 clients…that is tremndous growth in any industry.
He said current business networking options range from free-form Chamber of Commerce mixers to structured networking groups such as BNI chapters, which conduct regimented 90-minute meetings geared toward exchanging business referrals.
Morris said six minutes is enough time for a business person to make an important first impression.
