Tom Cruise’s publicist has confirmed that he and Katie Holmes are dating…Read that again. No, you are not hallucinating. It’s been 2 weeks. They are currently in Rome…together. Holding hands. Like so.
At 42, he is 16 years her senior. So would it surprise you to learn that both of them have major blockbusters due out this summer? Batman Returns for her and War of the Worlds for him. Real sparks? Or stunt of the century? Um…like… did you even have to ask??? It’s been over a year since his split from Penelope Cruz. For an aging action star who has more riding on his hetero appeal than anyone else in Hollywood, you can bet you boob job our GMD was jonesing for his next high profile romance. What better way to reassert your virility than with a gorgeous young starlet who also needs a launching pad? Sound familiar? Ever heard of Nicole Kidman? The similarities are undeniable. Tall, thin, fresh, innocent but foxy, eager…it’s the perfect prototype for a trophy wife who pads your ego and also screens the truth. A business agreement through and through. He puts her on the map…she turns the other cheek while he and the pool boy get biblical after Scientology lessons. For the moment, the Hollywood underground seems to be supporting this theory. To quote my source: ‘Total bullsh*t. She’s a beard, for Christ’s sake! Everyone in this town knows that! He’s on the down right now and they hired him a beard!’ FYI: a beard is an actress whose main purpose is concealing her partner’s gayness. Evidently, recent top secret private screenings of War of the Worlds were lukewarm at best. And while Spielberg has sequestered himself inside the editing room for new angles, Tom’s hearing some insecurity from studio chiefs that his glory days might be up, that the public might finally be ready to give his crown to someone else. Enter Katie Holmes. So… HIS rationale I can understand. But HERS??? Really? Is it worth it? Wasting your fantastic long legs on a truncated fraud who wears hidden lifts? Wasting away the best years of your breasts on someone who doesn’t know what to do with them? And believe me…if you’ve seen The Gift, you know her breasts are real, and They.Are.Spectacular!
